Over the years I have been to various places throughout America doing speaking engagements, comedy, concerts, and teaching how to do AAC evaluations. This media menu has different things that I have done over the years. I share these to both educate and inspire.
I was thought to be brain-dead at the time of birth. Not only were there no expectations, but I was suppose to be starved to death, but no one could ignore my cries for food. It's funny because a brain-dead baby can't cry for food. So doctors were wrong about me from the start. I'm not alone with this story. And because of lack of community education on disabilities, people think it's a tragedy. I think it's a tragedy that so many people have that viewpoint.
I am part of the first generation of disabled people to get an education. There were no mentors or roll models. Today, there are some, but not many. So I share these media videos to raise expectations. Doctors are good at not getting people's hopes up. Plus the out-of-date text books that doctors go by don't offer a lot of hope. So I share these videos because with today's technology, anyone can become just about anything as long as the right equipment is provided.
